My Booking Process
I accept Tattoo Proposals for new projects every Fall, for booking the following year. I open a portal to my Proposal questionnaire that is available for four days. I always post this booking opportunity well in advance on Instagram and send it directly to my mailing list folks.
The questionnaire is designed to capture all of the information I need in order to discern whether or not your project is compatible with my aesthetic, capabilities, and artistic interests.
I set aside a ton of time each year to read through all of the proposals and compile projects for the next year. This process has allowed me to focus more solely on designing, drawing and tattooing throughout the majority of the year.
If you are not currently signed up for my email list in order to make sure you are included in the announcements and Proposal Portal when it opens again.
Looking forward to creating some magic together.
Thanx!
(please take the time to read and understand my parameters above before submitting a proposal, thanx!)
tattoo proposal:
Things to know
- This is for NEW tattoo projects. If we have an ongoing piece started in the last couple years you may email me directly as usual, unless we've communicated otherwise.
- I will not be accepting large-scale cover-up work. And will be selective about small ones
- Make sure you have a good clear straight-on photo to upload for any small cover-up requests, gap fillers, scared areas, etc. Use selfie mode or another person to take your photos
- I will not be accepting fix-ups or re-working other artists work, script/lettering, kanji, or similar
- Please take the time to look at the tattoos I post on my Instagram portfolio and consider whether my style is the best fit for your subject matter, and that mine is your desired style
- I do love a challenge and a project that pushes the edges-especially with more daring or uncommon placements. Throat, neck, hands, symmetrical foot tattoos, sternum, glutes, head, etc. My natural inspiration : Flora, fauna, allegorical human figures, mythology, geo-mystic, art nouveau, botanical art, uncommon plants, art deco, decorative textiles….
Project Proposal Selection
After your idea is selected you will be placed on my Waitlist in the order your proposal was submitted.
I book 2 months at a time from my waitlist, and I do this about 2 months in advance. For example; if you are estimated to be booked in April/May I will send a list of available dates to this group of folks on the waitlist in about February.
This way I don't have deposits and notes piled up and looming for over a year, with everyone's lives in flux and ever changing! Often too much is also lost or forgotten with too much time in between.
After you choose from the list of available dates & are booked you will receive a deposit invoice, and then your booking confirmation with all the information on my studio and address in San Rafael California, rules, tips, parking, etc.
ABOUT Deposits
Deposits are required to secure a confirmed appointment date and time, and amounts may vary due to the size of the piece. An invoice will be emailed to the client at the time of booking, payable upon receipt.
The deposit holds your appointment and pays the artist for time spent on research, drawing, and a gap in their schedule should the client no-show completely. Deposits are transferable for rescheduling appointments if clients contact the artist within 24 hours of their appointment, refundable within one week's notice. Deposits for guest/travel appointments are refundable if the client contacts the artist to cancel their tattoo within two weeks of the appointment.
FAQ’s
Q: Do you do CONSULTATIONS?
Depending on your tattoo idea I will reach out if we need to schedule a phone consultation. This would be necessary if I /you needed more clarification, or to hash out vague or complex ideas, placement and such.
Q: Do you provide ESTIMATES?
I will send a rough estimate if requested. This is easier to do with smaller pieces on easier to handle placement areas. I give a broad estimate to things like sleeves, back pieces, or full color work. Another factor that can contribute to the speed to finish a piece is the clients (that's you!) ability to sit well for something like a ribcage or sternum tattoo. So, in short tattoo cost estimates are flexible but I try my best to go as fast as possible and keep my work accessible.
Q: What are your RATES?
My hourly rate is $300 for pieces under 3 hours, and $250 for larger multiple session work like sleeves, etc
Q: Do you provide ARTWORK PREVIEWS?
I prefer NOT to send artwork previews. It adds multiple extra deadlines and email back/forth to my schedule each week, plus in my 20+ years of experience- does not give clients my best work if I'm overly managed. However! If you are very anxious, or I feel like I need your feedback I will send a rough sketch on a case by case basis.
Q: What are your AFTERCARE recommendations?
Check out my recommendations on Aftercare here.
